Shuffle Your Feet and Smile

This whole blog thing is not easy. Time flys and it's hard to keep it updated. The last week was busy busy with a trip to LA and my 30th B-day Party. Bear with me while i break my days into a few posts.

i should have gone to sleep nice and early to prepare myself for the long drive to LA in the morning. but instead, some peeps came over for a late night dance party. ouch.

Someone was very serious about dancing and showed off some serious Solid Gold moves.

Donkey Party

ummm...yeah.

ceiling of the MakeOut Room is so pretty. more places should decorate so nice.

Nathan Moomaw and Miwa on stage making very pretty music.

Lethal Ethan with some Lethal Weapons.

He came over and cooked Tracy, Karen, and I and excellent dinner of side dishes - mac n cheese and creamed spinach.

Karen giving our magnum bottle of wine some love.

our entire evening was all about the sweet sweet magnum.

Deirdre and I are heading to LA tomorrow.
we're checking out the textile show in hopes of finding rad fabrics and good vendors. wish us luck.
since it's our birthdays, we are treating ourselves to a nice hotel stay. we're checking in to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel - a place of many celebrity cat fights around the pool that include names such as Paris, Nicole, Lindsay, etc. i am crossing my fingers for some US Weekly drama while we're there. that oughtta spice this blog up a bit.

Oh and don't forget - next thursday's my birthday party at the KnockOut. i got an awesome pinata today for the festivities.
i am so ready to get this whole turning 30 thing over with.

Sunday Easter Sunday

sorry for the lack of updates. that damn stomach flu really kept me down for days so not much really happened except my nights at Club Pillow.
i did sneak out for a bit on friday night after watching 2 depressing ass episodes of 6 Feet Under. after prying my wilted body off the couch and cleaning off my mascara smeared face, i headed down to the elbo room for Pizzapalooza. all the lads from Arinells Pizza on Valencia had a showcase of their bands such as The Cuts, Genghis Kahn, and Parchman Farm. good show, good time.
spent saturday morning watching the last 2 episodes of the last season of Six Feet Under. again, got all sad pants and had to leave the house. my lady tracy and i spent the day walking the mission, found ourselves giddily approaching St Francis Fountain shop and headed in for some Banana Split love. stepped on over to deirdre's for a quick game of scrabble, and then headed to blockbuster to close the night with a flick. it was so nice to take advantage of the city blocks without the rain.

my folks came to town for Easter. it's my mom's favorite holiday.
she makes me a basket every year.

she also dyes eggs, prices each one, and then makes me hunt for them. yeah, it's embarrasing, but it's also really funny when you do that, and then get a birthday cake for your 30th birthday 5 minutes later.

and no, it's not my birthday yet. it's on the 26th. but my cousin wanted to give me a gift and cake since she won't be around for my actual birthday.

there was also this little pup at our easter celebration.
here i nerd out with a few cute dog pictures.

he can even dance in a trench coat.

and here is my new little cousin MaddyRu (short for Madeline Ruby). it's exciting to have a new baby in the family. holidays seem to have so much more purpose somehow.

one day Maddy will take over the egg hunt for me.
i'm sure i'll be jealous.

Flu Season is the Reason

Had a super star guest visitor yesterday. Forrest was glued to this Hamburger Eyes photo book. Tried to give him other books to look at, but none seemed to keep his attention quite like this one. Pretty good taste for a kid almost 3.

Later on that evening, the ladies of Craft Nation came by for an official Rock n Shop meeting. Stay tuned for details because it's gonna be goodie. I can tell you that it's July 8th at 111 Minna. woot woot!

And lucky me, my evening really never came to an end. I got to spend the next 8 hours with stomach cramps, freezing, shitting and barfing my brains out (sometimes at the same time), sweating, and then repeat. Good times! Thank god for Deirdre, who today brought me 3 disks of Six Feet Under, soup, and the best company. Thanks lady, lots of love to you!

alright
passing out now

what a treat it was to have a few dry days.

shephard fairy hit up our alleyway when he was in town for his show. it didn't last up there more than 2 days.

lovely lady liz mcgrath was in town for an art opening and book signing. my photos do no justice to what she showed, as these pieces are insane up close.

Raise Your Sword & Prepare For Thy Enemy

If you click on this picture it will enlarge and you will clearly see that it says OUT OF ORDER.

The meter maids are out and they are pissed. You can now get tickets on your precious automobile when parked in a space with a broken meter. I put deirdre's gem in a spot in front of my house and put $.60 in the ol' meter. After the silver went down, the meter flashed that it was Outta Order and only accepted payment by cards. hmmmm... what cards. Anyway, i figure the car is safe since the bitch is broken, but OH HELL NO! we get back to the car with a wolf ticket on the windshield.
What the hell?
